DID YOU KNOW THAT CMS RECENTLY UPDATED QIP TO INCLUDE A MEASURE OF VACCINATION RATES AMONG DIALYSIS HEALTHCARE PERSONNEL?
This is a 2-part measure:
1. Please check quarterly for updated definitions of “up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations”, for Q1 2023 ending March 23, 2023 it is:
a. Received an updated (bivalent) booster OR
b. Completed their primary series less than 2 months ago
2. The peoples counted include but are not limited to:
a. Employees – anyone on the facility’s payroll
b. Licensed independent practitioners (LIPs) who are not direct employees such as Medical Directors, Physicians, Advanced Practice Nurses, and Physician Assistants.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
A dialysis staff COVID-19 vaccination measure was added to the Payment Year 2025 ESRD Quality Incentive Program (QIP).
• Based on calendar year 2023.
• Will be a reporting measure based on the percentage of months that the COVID-19 Healthcare Personnel (HCP) vaccination data is reported in the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN).
• Must be reported for at least one self-selected week during the month.
o If more than one week in the month is reported, the most recent week will be used.
• Must be reported in NHSN using the CDC specifications (linked below).
• Quarterly vaccination rates will be publicly reported.
